Harvest and Pack Manager
VRDNT Farm is a bio-intensive small farm growing fresh, local vegetables for Central Texans. Owner/Operator Becky Hume spent over 10 years working on sustainable farms before taking the leap to start her own in 2019. VRDNT’s mission is simple: to nourish the land and our local economy by growing high quality nutrient dense food. The farm is tucked away in the lost pines of Bastrop, TX (45 min East of Austin) We are currently cultivating 3.5 acres of diversified vegetables for CSA and wholesale markets. Our small, dedicated team is constantly striving to improve on farm efficiency and grow the best produce Central Texas has to offer.
The Harvest and Pack Manager is responsible for managing the picking, packing and delivery of all vegetables on the farm. The farm owner will work with the Harvest and Pack Manager on a weekly basis to project vegetable availability and to plan orders and CSA contents. The Harvest Manager is responsible for coordinating the harvest, washing, packing, and delivery of the vegetables. Depending on the season, 1-2 part time staff will assist the Harvest and Pack Manager with picking and delivery. This position reports to the farm owner, but is relatively autonomous on a day-to-day basis and hours can be flexible.
-Planning and delegating harvest tasks
-Planning and delegating wash and pack tasks
-Harvesting, washing, packing and fulfilling orders
-CSA management and communication
-Ensuring upkeep of packshed
-Updating harvest records and invoices
-Be comfortable troubleshooting, problem solving, and learning new skills
-Possess the physical ability/ stamina to work outside in all seasons
-Maintain a keen attention to detail
Nice to have:
-Spreadsheet management skills
-Strong written communication
Compensation: $16-18/hr, depending on experience
